This book does give a step by step guide for a first time quilter. Not a 5 star review due to the following typos in that a number a words were attached together, and I disagree strongly with the placement of some chapters in the book. For example, the batting (title of chapter) was thebatting. Furthermore, the recommendation for which quilt to make first was right before the conclusion,and should have been before the details of how to make a quilt.
