I approached this book with a little trepidation as I usually pick up a book at the recommendation of friends but I must say I was not disappointed. It was a breezy reading yet a discerning reader could pick many subtle messages.

Alistair is a weak-minded, confused and self-centered man, only guided by so-called love, which is bound to wear off because it rests on a wobbly channel. When the triggers for leaving a marriage are frivolous and self-motivated, you carry a lot of baggage, which is difficult to unload and sort out!

Family relationships reign supreme and are much deeper than one realizes. Love, emotions and responsibilities are intertwined. Anybody who is insensitive or tries to take them for granted learns the harsh realities of life in the wake of tumultuous circumstances.

Alistair and Carly made the perfect pair. Both were selfish idiots especially Carly who actually expected to be more important to Alistair than his kids. If not for that along with her constantly criticizing his daughter and clearly wanting Alistair to cut the girl out of his life, I would have been rooting for them to end up together because Carly and the serial cheater who no doubt would have eventually ended up cheating on her deserved one another.
Only great writers can make daily life rich. Ms. Turner accomplishes making the mundane shine. She provides momentary frissons that climb up your back as Alistair gets led by the proverbial ‘short and curlies’ down a surprisingly unpredictable trail in this heartfelt compact novel. The author foreshadows trouble using hints and suggestions that could be taken either way, brilliantly leading readers and characters down the garden path. “Jeez! Black walls?” Most remarkable about the story of Revenge are the unexpected twists and turns that play out in a story of everyday lives shattered and seen through a microscope.

Revenge just wouldn’t be complete without the scintillating foreplay and warm sex between Alistair in his tryst with red-headed beauty, Carly and then the caring portrayal of rekindled warmth with his wife of 20 years, Ann. Through the protagonist, Alistair’s, eyes, the reader notices the things that most men care about in women. Indecision reigns supreme just as it would in real life.

The reader runs the gamut of an emotional rollercoaster, once siding with Alistair and curious about the reasons for his daughter’s betrayal and then questioning the main character’s motivations. Stevie Turner catches the magic of the commonplace and lets the reader decide. Is this a moral tale, shaming Alistair to get him to behave or are we reading about the devil in disguise? You’ll have to pick it up to see for yourself. A great read. A normal marriage goes bad. The causes seem transparent, but the way we ride through it makes it visceral. Highly recommended! 5 Stars.
I am giving this book three stars, not because it wasn't well written, but mainly due to the ending of the book. There were so many questions left. This book is about infidelity and the author created a very rich narrative of a marriage and family and how infidelity impacts so many. How decent, good people act in ways that are contrary to who they and others have always believed them to be. It feels as if the author just got tired of writing and ended the book. BAM finished.

I would have loved to know what happened to this family and how they continued on; were they able to come to some acceptance and what their new normal would have been.
I hate Ann was so weak. She foolishly allowed her anger and bitterness to control her emotions. Conspiring with her daughter to trump up abuse charges against Alistair was dumb at best and horrific for everyone at worst. Cut off your nose to spite your face. She was lulled into false security allowing herself to become solely dependent on her husband for support. Even if he had not left the family death would haves had same repercussions. Ann foolishly tore down her only support with no skill set to get employment. This also caused a riff with her sons and daughter with her father. She allowed Alistair to return home no questions nothing just come back. What will life be like in 6 months? He cheated and is in love with someone else. He can not be trusted.
Alistair is a smuck ! He cheated on the love of his life (Maggie) he cheated on Ann and left his children to meet his selfish desires. He was in love with Carly after 4 days? He knew nothing about her. He found out later she was hard hearted, didn't want children including his 3 and she wanted to be first place. That's rather stupid on her part. If you want to be number one don't get involved with a married man. Don't get involved with man with children !
Carly is a selfish home wrecker. She would never be happy with Alistair.
I'm tired of authors who write book that seem to Suggest women should take any treatment from a man and call it love. "Love don't love no body"
I enjoyed this book up until the end. I found it very bizarre. There was no closure regarding any of the characters.
This book got me from the first page. I could not put it down. Other reviewers gave a synopsis already so I will not to that. Obviously I cannot discuss the ending, but frankly it runied the book for me. I am going to purchase another book from this author because I really do like his style of writing.
I cannot even. If I could give this zero stars I would. The book is a love story of the H and the OW basically because that’s the only person he is with the entire book. Then the ending......ugh. I read the negative reviews first and decided to give it a try but man were they right. Don’t waste your money. Reread a good book instead.
